Most internships are a great experience for you to understand how a company/organization works from the inside out. When you land an internship, if done well, most times you will have a job waiting for you once your internship is completed. Internships are a great way to improve your chances of obtaining your dream job. That is why it is important to remember these three important traits while you are involved in an internship.
The first thing to remember is the most important of the three qualities, communication. Being able to communicate with people is a necessity during an internship. When asked to complete a task you must be able to communicate back to your supervisor in a timely fashion. You should always figure out the best way to communicate with your co-workers and supervisor. Whether it is by email, telephone, text messaging, word-of-mouth, etc. Always know the best way to report back information. If you are not sure of the best way to communicate with a co-worker, ask them. You are better off knowing the right way from the start of your internship.
The second most important quality to have is organization. Organization is important because you should be able to keep all of your information easily accessible to you throughout the day. When working over eight hours a day, you will not always know where you will be. Keep your documents, appointments, and any other important information neatly organized for yourself. It will only make your life easier, make you look much more professional, and you will always be prepared.
